1&1 wins again! The 1&1 Cloud Server ranks first in the Cloud Spectator Benchmark 2017

Last month, the American analyst institution Cloud Spectator released their 2017 comparison of the biggest and most important cloud service providers in North America. The companies profiled included well-known brands such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. In their “Top 10 Cloud IaaS Providers Benchmark 2017“the company analysed the price/performance ratio of the providers´ solutions.

Double benchmark winner: 1&1 Cloud Server undefeated in Europe and the US

Our 1&1 Cloud Server has again received the highest ranking in terms of pricing-performance ratio in the Cloud Vendor Benchmark by US analysts Cloud Spectator and thus, is a two-time test winner in this category. This time the latest comparative study didn’t assess the U.S. cloud market, but lay a special focus on the cloud offerings in Europe. The benchmark compares our cloud portfolio with similar solutions of companies like Amazon Web Services, Rackspace, Aruba Cloud or Google Compute. It concentrated on the virtual machines’ (VMs) relative performance, specifically analyzing the components processor (vCPU), memory (RAM) and storage. The survey’s results are especially relevant for German customers as the benchmark tested the 1&1 data center in Germany which is operated in accordance with the German data protection guidelines.

Through a series of unbiased competitive performance tests against solutions offered by alternative mass-market and competitive Cloud providers, the 1&1 Cloud Server was assessed on virtual cores, memory, block storage and internal network features. Test result “very good”: 1&1 Cloud Server outperforms in Cloud Spectator Benchmark

In order to support the market entry of our 1&1 Cloud Sever, the U.S. analyst agency Cloud Spectator reviewed our product. The aim of the survey was to evaluate the performance and price performance of the 1&1 Cloud Server offerings. The benchmark also compared the 1&1 Cloud Server with offerings by Amazon Web Services (AWS), Aruba Cloud, Microsoft Azure and CloudSigma. Cloud Spectator reviewed the virtual machine (VM) performance with the relative performance – components measured were the virtual cores, memory, block storage, and internal network. The VM sizes reviewed ranged from two and four vCPUs to eight vCPUs

The survey shows the outstanding levels of raw performance and price-indexed performance of the 1&1 Cloud Server. Additionally, 1&1 offers a strong price-performance value during the whole survey.

The key findings for 1&1 VMs:

  • highest performance on vCPU, memory bandwidth, and storage performance
  • higher price-performance value across the vCPU, memory and greater on the storage tests
  • most stable performance over the test period
