Video: Why WordPress Is So Interesting

why wordpress is so interesting video

Marko Heijnen has been dedicated and enthusiastic about WordPress since he first began working with the platform in 2009. His passion for the content management system is clear as he says he could “work with WordPress every day, even if I don’t get paid for it.” WordPress helped him become the person he is today. In this video, Marko explains how he got involved with WordPress, how it shaped him as a person, what makes it so special, and more.

Marko made his first big improvement to WordPress with version 3.0 in 2010. At that time, he relied heavily on the assistance of the community. He worked closely with some of the platform’s top contributors – they gave him feedback and helped him correct mistakes. Now, Marko helps others become better developers as they work toward making WordPress the best tool it can be.

A true benefit of WordPress is that it provides a lot of ways to hook into the API. This allows developers to continue trying new technology and make the platform better. To gain more insights into WordPress usage and the progression of the platform, Marko created http://wpcentral.io. The website showcases WordPress statistics as they progress over time, including: version 4.0 downloads, version usage (PHP and MySQL), and internationalization/translation. Watch the full video to hear everything Marko had to say:
