30 years ago, a symbolic moment occurred, which would affect the world in many ways. In March, 1985, the first ever .COM domain, Symbolics.com, was registered online – changing the way businesses communicated. From the first .COM domain, to over 116 million registered today, it’s amazing to think about how much the Internet has changed in that time.
The beginning of an incredible journey, fast forward 30 years and it is difficult to imagine a world in which we do not have near ubiquitous access to information online. The Internet has fundamentally changed the way consumers interact with businesses and the way that businesses interact with each other.
Information on any product or service is available instantly from any Internet connected device, which now includes laptops, phones, tablets and even watches. As a result it’s never been more important for commercial enterprises to be visible online. Having a .COM is one way that companies have traditionally announced to the online marketplace that they’re open for business.
