Whether a smartphone, tablet or ultrabook, an increasing number of people are surfing the net on mobile devices. I’m also no exception. Whether trying to find restaurants in the area, looking for a handyman at home or searching for a hotel for my next holiday, I reach for my phone or tablet first. Recent studies have proven again and again that millions of people surf the web on mobile devices, a number which is increasing all the time. Moreover, in recognition of this trend, Google added a mobile friendliness factor to its search engine rankings in April 2015. That’s why having a website that is optimised for mobile devices is now also an important part of your search engine ranking. Mobile surfing of course means that visitors have different needs than in the past and therefore requirements for modern websites have changed. Some page elements, which display ok on the desktop version of a site, may create errors or problems on a mobile device or not even show at all.
