You’ve just registered your own domain and within minutes, you’re already receiving spam. This scenario is typical for many domain owners who immediately wonder if the registrar sold their data to a third party and what the company who registered it may have to do with the sudden influx of spam.

How Video Marketing (and .VIDEO) Can Help Achieve Your Business Goals

video-domain-blog-post

Video and marketing go together like peanut butter and jelly. You could attempt to consume them separately, but the effect wouldn’t be nearly as satisfying, and what’s the point of doing something if you’re not going to do it right?

In May, YouTube celebrated its 10-year anniversary which got us all thinking about how far video has come in the past decade. Once upon a time, a business looking to create video content required an entire marketing team and a big budget. Subdomains: Why You Want Them and How to Implement Them

Subdomains are a great way of providing your website visitors with memorable Web addresses to specific parts of your site. But what is a subdomain, and how do you implement it?

What is a subdomain?

We all know how domain names work – they are split into two distinct parts (this can be three in some parts of the world, like the UK): on the right is the top-level domain, such as .com or .org. How a Geo-TLD Could Benefit Your Business

© aruba2000 - Fotolia.com

A business Web address is just as important as any business street address. With the demand of mobile and online purchasing increasing, your online address should also be carefully considered.

The recent introduction of what will be over 700 new top level domains (TLDs) now offers options far past the traditional .com, .org or .net. From business industries, hobbies to professional services and more, the new domains present a large realm of new possibilities now available for business owners when registering their online address. Perhaps the most interesting category of this new domain launch is the geographical domain names. Starting with .UK in June, .London next month and continuing with .Scot and .Wales later this year, individuals will soon have the option to register a regional domain name.

The Backup Plan Your Domain Can’t Live Without

The Backup Plan Your Domain Can’t Live Without

Domain owners have enough to think about without worrying about the back-end operation of their online property. After all, that is someone else’s business, right? In fact, it is. It’s the business of a domain registry (which is different from a registrar like 1&1).

But, what would happen if a domain registry goes bankrupt? Should the owner of a top-level domain then fear for their website address? Don’t worry: The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which is responsible for the assignment of names and addresses on the Internet, has an emergency plan up its sleeve for such cases.
